Do We Have Eyes that See & Ears that Hear??

Jesus warns of coming judgement in Matthew 11 because the people had rejected him. He called out specifically to the cities of Chorazin and Bethsaida in Matthew 11:21 - but why?? Jesus had worked miracles in those cities and even though the people saw him and his miracles, they still chose to reject him. Jesus had done great things in this region of Galilee, but instead of embracing Jesus as Messiah, they rejected him. Jesus tells them that had he done such miracles in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented quickly. See, Jesus is showing them here that he knows the heart and he knew their hearts and those of the cities of Tyre and Sidon. Capernaum, another Galilean city was judged, If what Jesus had done in Capernaum had been done in Sodom, then Sodom would have repented, Matthew 11:23.

Jesus is showing us that we are and will be held accountable for our rejection of him just as the people of these cities were. Chorazin and Bethsaida were some of the worst and most vile cities, mostly because of their refusal to submit to Christ and his authority. Jesus, the Messiah, had come to them and he performed miracles there. He came to them bringing them the opportunity to receive him and his kingdom. He came to offer them a new birth and eternal life, if they would follow him - but they rejected him. Jesus goes on to explain that they would be judged more harshly than Tyre and Sidon and that Capernaum, who had also rejected him and his miracles, would receive even worse judgement than Sodom had endured.

Jesus is calling to us today - to you...and to me. He is working to reveal himself to us, give us the opportunity to be born again, to have eternal life, and to experience his love, mercy, & grace. What will we do with him and all he is offering? Will we have eyes that see, ears that hear, and hearts that understand? Or will we be like the people of Chorazin, Bethsaida, & Capernaum? Will we reject him so that we can carry on doing life our way? Will we ignore his warning of judgment as we down play our sin, call evil good and good evil? Jesus is calling to us through these scriptures today. Will we pay attention and surrender to him before it is too late? Will we choose to escape the righteous wrath of God, turn from our sin, repent, and be rescued by Jesus?

Do we have eyes that see and ears that hear? Are we willing to embrace Jesus or are we loaded down with excuses so we can carry on living for the world. We can only serve 1 master. We are either embracing and serving Jesus, or we are embracing Satan. Any rejection of Christ makes you a slave to the enemy - so you wind up worshipping him by default...no choice IS a choice and there are severe consequences for thinking you can just straddle the fence all wishy washy like. There is no such thing as a gray area when it comes to your eternal soul -it's either completely bought and paid for by the blood...or it belongs to Satan. That's it - that's all - there is nothing else.

Matthew 11:21(Amplified)

Woe judgment is coming to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon (cities of the gentiles), they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. Their hearts would have been changed and they would have expressed sorrow for their sin and rebellion against God.

 Matthew 13:15 (CSB)

For the hearts of this people are calloused (Hard & dull). Their ears are hard of hearing, and they have tightly closed their eyes. Oh that they would see and hear and understand with their hearts and turn to me and I would heal them.

I pray that we, your and I, will have eyes that see, ears that hear, and hearts willing to understand. That we will stand covered by the blood of the one who has conquered death, hell, and the grave.
